It’s Within Your Reach – You Just Have To Want It Badly Enough

You can do whatever you set your mind to!

How often have you heard that statement? Pretty much I guess that you have continually brushed it aside as something you’re being told just to make you feel better.

At some point, you believed in something with all your heart. You worked very hard, sacrificed a lot, yet failed miserably. So you conclude that the phrase is a lie. Whatever anyone’s telling you about it is nonsense. No! The problem is that you took it at face value. Whatever you take at face value is doomed to fail – you cannot apply a particular thing to every single situation. You need to develop a different kind of mindset in order to see the truth in that statement. However, it doesn’t mean you should set unrealistic goals like living on the moon.

When you’re young and faced with a world of endless possibilities, you can become a little irrational in your interpretation of this statement thinking its reward is simply based on hopes. Those dreams aren’t going to materialize by themselves, nor by wishful thinking. You need to be able to put in the work. Get back up when you fail.

This brings me to some favorite lines from the video “How bad do you want it”.

“I’m here to tell you, number one, that most of you say you want to be successful, but you don’t want it bad. You just kinda want it. You don’t want it as much as you want to party.”

“Some of you love sleep more than you love success! If you want to be successful, you’ve got to be willing to give up sleep. How bad do you want it?”

“When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful”.

That says it all. No matter what your goals are, you must be willing to do what it takes to achieve it. Are you willing to make sacrifices? Are you willing to stay awake at the late hours when others are sleeping? Can you go on that strict diet? Can you give up that toxic relationship? Are you willing to isolate yourself?

Success doesn’t happen overnight. You need to show commitment to whatever it is you want to achieve. Liking an idea is different from being committed to the idea. For example, there are people who like the idea of coding, and just read about it. Committed people put what they learn into action. They actually practice and practice, making a lot of sacrifices. Remember that successful people do what unsuccessful people are unwilling to do.

It’s all about having a mind of steel. Greatness has nothing to do with mediocrity. You need to be able to shield your mind from giving up no matter the challenges you encounter along your journey.

You can only be shown the door. But you’ll have to walk through it. If you want it that badly, you’ll do whatever it takes, and surely you can achieve that goal.
